KINGS & QUEENS BRIDGE CLUB
~ OUR SPONSORED CHARITY ~

The first game of every month is an ACBL charity game. We are able to make the last game of most months our own charity game. When we started, we used to let people whose birthdays were in the month pick out a charity. We found that many of the bigger charities spend most of the donation sending back literature asking for more money and we felt that our donations were being wasted.

One of our regular players, Kay Barker, brought to our attention a wonderful charity run by her sister, Kathleen Tucker. It is for the orphans of Kakamega, Kenya and 100% of our donation goes directly to the children These children have lost their parents to AIDS. When Kathleen first started this charity these children were only able to get medical help at a hospital but there was no hospital close enough to walk to and no way of transporting them to the nearest one. They now have their own medical facility and also transportation! We are not only helping to solve their immediate problems but are instrumental in creating a positive future for these children.

We usually donate about $34 monthly. I wish it were more. If you are looking to donate on a personal level, I hope you will consider a donation to this charity.
